Esol Education News

Esol Education is commemorating a major milestone this year as it completes its 40th year of providing high quality international education to children and families. Since its establishment in 1976, Esol has seen steady growth and progress to become the world's largest operator of accredited American schools outside the United States, responsible for close to 10,000 students attending nine schools in five countries. 

At Esol’s annual Leadership Meetings in Dubai in October 2016, its founder and Superintendent, Mr. Walid Abushakra, took a few moments to recount the story of Esol’s beginnings and its long journey to international prominence. He attributed Esol’s success to hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering focus on its mission, habits that served him well in his own career and have become hallmarks of the organization.

Longtime Esol Leadership Team members as well as relative newcomers shared their own recollections of some of the watershed moments in Esol’s history, including its most recent breakthrough: the opening of American School Hong Kong in September 2016, marking Esol’s entry into East Asia. Attending his first Esol Leadership Meetings, ASHK Director John Jalsevac briefed his colleagues on ASHK’s opening and its bright outlook for the future. 

Mr. Abushakra noted that with a growing international reputation and some exciting new announcements in the pipeline, Esol is poised for continued growth and progress over the next 40 years, driven by its dedication to excellence in education.
