Selected from over 3000 candidates, Mostafa Allam, a graduate from Esol Education’s American International School in Egypt (AISE), Cairo, class of 2006, has been selected to join the inaugural class of the Schwarzman Scholars Program, a highly selective scholarship program taking place at Tsinghua University, China’s most prestigious university.

The Schwarzman Scholars Program is inspired by the Rhodes scholarship. It was established by Blackstone Founder Stephen Schwarzman to prepare the next generation of global leaders to meet the challenges of the 21st century.  With a targeted $450 million endowment, the program aims to fund 200 students every year.  The inaugural judging panel included outstanding judges.

The one-year immersive Master’s Degree program will see students pursuing degrees in one of three disciplines: Public Policy, Economics and Business, International Studies. Surrounded by an international community of thinkers, innovators and senior leaders in business, politics and society, students will have the opportunity to build their leadership skills as well as be part of a growing network of future global leaders.

In a recent message, sharing the exciting news, Mostafa said, "Given that my long-term aspiration is to contribute to the Middle East’s development, I believe that the Schwarzman program will provide me with the necessary exposure to do so. Thank you for inspiring me on my journey to reaching this program. I continue to be deeply grateful for your support and guidance along the way."

After matriculating from AISE, Mostafa Allam graduated from the University of Virginia with a triple major in Systems Engineering, Economics, and Middle Eastern Studies before completing his Master degree at London Business School. He then joined Strategy& where he worked on strategy projects for multinational corporations and government institutions. Most recently, Mostafa completed his MBA at INSEAD in Singapore where he also participated in the launch of Circles Asia, Singapore’s fourth telecom operator. Mostafa aspires to launch a consulting firm advising foreign investors, especially those from China, on their strategic agendas in the Middle East.

Remarking on Mostafa’s success, Walid Abushakra, Esol Education Chairman, commented, “Mostafa was one of the brightest students in his graduating class and it is no surprise to see what he has achieved in such a short time.  He is truly poised to take his place at the forefront of future worldwide leaders, and we are extremely proud of his success.”
